Great news. Guadalupe stripers

Great news. Guadalupe stripers - 07/18/15 03:57 PM

What a morning on the river. I landed 7 stripers and lost 1 large fish
This is great news for all. It would be nice if the state and TU leave them alone
So they can grow to record size. I used a triple jointed lure and 30 lb bread.
The fish I lost was very large and would not move from his hole. In the last 3 weeks
I have caught stripers all the way to Dunlap

The only problem is they destroy the trout and other game fish in the river that is why TWPD shocked them and put them back in Canyon Lake.

Yep, they run out of food and they'll start going after the tubers!

That area below the dam works kind of like an ideal holding pond to fatten up those stripers with the rainbow trout, and they then are able to grow to monster status, and then TPWD comes along and takes them out and transplants them back into the lake with the stunted ones that aren't so lucky, and so that the striper tournaments have fish to catch and brag about.
Works like a charm! roflmao

I've often wondered when they hold those striper tournaments that they don't allow fishing for them below the dam as well. Maybe a seperate category, but it would help TPWD remove them from the river and they could tag them or release them into the lake after they are weighed. It would be better than shocking them up and removing all of them at once.
Seems that would add to the fun!

I thought below dam fish is how they stock lakes with them.

Just leave the stripers in the river. Here is what I found out
The state shocked some big stripers from the river and took them to the fish hatchery to use for spawning, but. The water in the river is to cold. So, they were unsuccessful
I'm not sure what happened after that

What happened to the 50lbers? Im guessing someone started complaining about them eating all the precious trout? When i lived in vegas they stocked the colorado below hoover dam with trout every friday morning. The stripers were easy to pattern needless to say...

Wonder how many stripers there are in those natural trout streams?

Seems every time they mess with mother nature they open a whole new can of worms! smirk

You're smart. People post pics and vids and wonder why their holes get raped afterwards.

Nope, that wasn't my intention but I can see where someone would think so.
Most guys who post use photo shop or doctor their photos to blur out the back round. I just wanted to see a trophy striper.

I think bank fishing is all that can be done in that part of the river.
