Fayette County Reservoir - Saturday, June 6 - 06/08/15 02:37 PM

Full house on Saturday. Appeared to be a paper tournament going on and lots of boats and yaks on the lake. Pretty much every spot on the lake with visible cover had several boats in it. Boats also lined up along the dam like a Whataburger drive through at 2:30 AM on a weekend night. Water temp around 95 degrees hot, calm, and bright blue skies. The little bit of breeze coming off the lake felt like a sauna.

We stuck with fishing 15-20 feet of water. Bite was slow and fish didn't seem to be nearly as agressive as a few weeks ago. Ended up the day catching only around 15 bass, all on a variety of green worms (Carolina , TX, and drop shot) and weightless T-rigged Senkos and Zeros. No bites on squarebills, chatterbaits, or spinnerbaits. I just started using the Strike King 3X Zeros, which are made of Z-Man's ElazTech plastic, or "Stretch Armstrong" plastic, as I call it. They are way more durable than a Yamamoto Senko, sink slower, are full of salt, and I actually caught more bass on them than my buddy, who was using the traditional GY Senko in green pumpkin/chartreuse laminate.

Managed to also boat a gar who grabbed my Zero.

Going back out this weekend and will probably try to find some structure in deeper water. Hoping for a little cloud cover too.

I got out there Friday night around 9 and fished til 9 in the morning. The bite was slow for me til the moon came out...then it was on. I stayed at the dam the whole time. Caught 30+ fish on every soft plastic I could find. Tx rigged lizards and flukes, C-rigged flukes, drop shot, wacky rigged senkos...it didn't matter what color. I was setting the hook sometimes 3 casts in a row on quality fish. Most were between 2-3.5lbs. Several 5+ with the biggest right at 6lbs. It was too much fun. Went back out Saturday night and tried the same approach without the same results so I moved to the points with a c rig and caught a few more good ones, but nothing like the previous night. I will definitely be returning as soon as I can.

Night fishing under a full moon is the way to go. Much cooler too. I like his lake...
