Pond with bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish.

Is there an ideal month to stock bluegills? Some months better than others? Any months that are really bad for stocking?

I would avoid handling them in July and August because of the heat...even though they are tough little critters. My personal preferred times are in the fall Oct. and Nov.

Let 'em get settled in before spring spawnings begin.

Fall is best. The sizes from the hatcheries tends to be on the large size. For example fish are sold in a range of inches.

Bluegill 2 to 3 inches. In the spring they are usually 2 inches in the fall 3 inches.
