Pelicans and bass

Pelicans and bass - 11/13/17 03:35 AM

I have been fishing a piece of private property for about a year and half. The owner told us about a month ago there was a large flock (100-200) of pelicans that had been hanging around. A typical day of fishing there between three tanks, we would usually catch 20+ fish each. Since then, we have caught 0-4 each. All three tanks on the property have a large amount of coon tail moss, and One has a very healthy population of lily pads. Has anyone experienced a similar pelican invasion? Can they eat larger fish (3-6 lbs)? Any other ideas what may be going on?

From my understanding, 3 pounds would be the upper limit and more likely would be smaller than that.

Curious as to how far from the coast this is happening?

Pelicans are terrible for private lakes and ponds. They can and do eat lots of fish. But, eating 3lb+ bass would be unlikely. Eating small bass and bluegill are far more likely. The biggest issue is that they eat the forage that feed the bass.
