Learning How To Fish - A Quick Guide To Bass Fishing

Trying out fishing for the first time and getting to learn how to fish? Then you would want to start off strong and learn how to catch one of the most sought after fish – the Bass! You might have seen and heard of it multiple times already, the all famous crownless king of game fishing.

BASS FISHING – the Bass

Bass fishing has and always and will be popular among all anglers. Bass relatively vary in sizes but are capable of reaching humongous sizes that can break fishing records!

BASS FISHING – your equipment

Ever heard of the saying “Good workmen never quarrel with their tools”? That’s also exceptionally applicable in bass fishing.
Your fishing gear MUST compliment your goal, and in this case, it must help you catch bass fish. Knowing the right gear to use can increase your percentages of landing a whopper immensely!

Your rod – First off, we will need a strong rod. Remember that our target is aggressive and intense, so heavier and more powerful rods are recommended.

Your line – Any line can be used by an expert angler, but for beginners, monofilament would be the best choice. It has just the right strength, and it has lower visibility in the water, making the bass oblivious and tricking it for the bite!
Your reel – Bait casting reels have been proven to be the more adaptable and most successful reels in bass fishing. It may be a bit difficult to master when you are still learning how to fish, getting used to this kind of reel first gives you an advantage.

Your bait – Spinner baits will do fine for your first try. Mixing and matching up different baits is good as well, but the spinner bait is the so called most classic lure to use when bass fishing. It almost always guarantees a catch and the hook attached to it lines perfectly for the bite.

BASS FISHING – essential tips

Once everything is ready, make sure you go out there with a positive attitude! Enjoy the fishing experience to the fullest, and try out these tips:
Cast your lure out near colder places and where there are shade and cover. That’s the usual hiding places for bass. Under bridges, trees, lily pads, are safe bets.

Retrieve with fluid motion to make the lure appear natural and enticing to the bass fish. Steady with some twitches work nicely.

Check water temperature, remember the colder it is, the less aggressive the fish are.

Rebecca if you want to learn in person instead of just with books you should join a club that belongs to the New York Bass Nation Federation or the New York Bass Federation.

You will get to be a co-angler (back seater) riding with many different anglers in many different kinds of boats, learning many different techniques, which after a year or two will help point you in the right direction on whether you want to stay as a co-angler or to buy a boat and be that person.

Books and videos help. Doing it for real is what you need.
