Telescopic Rod - 07/25/17 01:11 AM

My wife has three days of meetings in Minneapolis in August and I'm tagging along. While she's in meetings, I'm going fishing. What would be a decent telescopic/breakdown rod I can carry on? I'll throw one of my bait cast reels on it and I'm looking for a seven footer. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

Ok, I did the search for you and found several from $40 to $530. Here are 2 links to look at. One is on Amazon and the other is on a fishing tackle site.

https://www.amazon.com/Fiblink-Graphite-Baitcasting-Portable-Baitcaster/dp/B019TWHQTC

and this site lists a LOT of different styles of rods, both spinning and casting.

I hvae no experience other than a 7'11" rod that was a telescoping rod from the butt section only. Sorry. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Just buy a cheap rod at Walmart when you get there and give it to a kid when you leave

Thad has done some nice research it looks like.

I'd only add, if it isn't on his list, that why not just go to a big, quality name and buy a 2-piece, forget about the telescopic.

St. Croix sells them. All of the ones found on the page below with model numbers ending in a "2" are 2 piece rods. They have a 6'6" M and a MH, then I see a 7 footer in a H.

For a traveling rod, I'd be inclined to stay with one of the 6'6" models. I have a 6'6" G-Rod designed for trout and it is 2 piece, a fabulous rod. While I wouldn't go out of my way to buy a 2 piece rod except for travel convenience, once I put this G-Rod together, I forget very quickly that it is not a one piece rod.

Thanks everyone. I like the idea of buying a cheap one and giving it to kid. I'm all about the kids. Going to check out the sites as well, need one under the seat of the truck for emergency (therapy) purposes!! Tight lines everyone!!

Bought a three piece at BPS last week for a trip to GA and on the first hook set (a one pounder) it snapped and almost broke my nose. Buy a one piece cheap and leave it behind. (the carrying case was good though.)
