not familiar with decker lake but if it's anything bigger than a small pond, the odds of this happening are unbelievable.

Happened to me on a 500 acre lake. My partner laid it down with a spinnerbait hanging over the side, and it went overboard. I dragged the area for about 45 minutes with a spoon with a treble on it and hooked it. Brought it in, and there was a bass on it!
Happened to me another time at Falcon lake. Went overboard in about 15 feet of water. Came back 2 weeks later when the lake lowered about 5 feet. Used a sand sinker (for surf casting, about a 4 oz sinker with the tines bent out) and got it back. Took a lot of cleaning to get the silt out of it.

My fishing partner and I found it on the surface in a hydrilla clump in the back of a pocket. He said he lost it on the main lake. There was a good south wind late yesterday afternoon. Only thing we can think of is it floated and was pushed by the wind into the pocket. It was a Lews Custom Pro and St Croix Elite rod with a cork handle. He had a live target sunfish frog on it. Good advertising for lews and st croix: So light, it floats!

In any case, glad we found it and could get it back to the owner. Never a good time to lose a rod.

Thanks again Amistad Tackle! I can't believe that happened. I was thinking the same thing as you... It went overboard on the main lake in pretty deep water and I guess the wind blew into the one of the coves before it could fully sink. I'm sure the full cork handle helped.

That's a great deal guys, glad it made it back to the owner.

I was on Decker yesterday, only thing I caught was a picture of the helicopter
doing water drop training.

Saw tons of bait fish, but could not get anything to bite.

The bite is tough out there right now. Been out there the last two weeks. I fish out there in evening during the summer. Usually a decent frog bite but it is off right now. We caught 8 from 3 pm to dark but on drop shot, Texas rig worm and punching grass. Had a few blow ups on the frog, but that was it. Nothing schooling.

So is there any truth to the old fishermans tale that the fish will always school under the power lines ???
We ran back and forth in that one area where those lines cross the lake, bu we didnt see anything.
But on Keep Austin Fishing some people mentioned catching some fish in the water right below them.

And does that lake have those Striper/White Bass cross in there ??

Headed back this coming weekend for a two day club tournament.
Thought I would try that big lily pad patch with a frog ??????

Thanks
Dave

Never heard the power lines bit. I usually fish the reeds and deep grass off the main lake. Fishing there is tough right now though. The warm winter didn't kill enough of the grass, so it's really taking over this year. A lot of the major coves on the right side of the lake are completely covered in hydrilla, coontail, etc.

The lily pad area you are talking about is hard to fish right now. They are in full bloom and It's hard to even get something in the water. I casted a frog deep into them the other day and I don't think the frog ever touched any water heh. Plus that whole area is also covered in hydrilla. Lots of people are often fishing the water out take area. If you're lucky you'll find some schooling bass.
