Hook removal - 05/25/17 08:33 PM

My son stepped on a hook that someone left on the floor of a condominium that we were staying at. Thankfully I was able to get it out with the line trick.

I just don't see that working and like everyone else, I've watched this technique on other videos

How come the barb doesn't just shred the skin?

if you do it right the barb comes out the same hole it made going in

My wife removed a hook from my finger using this method and it differently works very well.

By pushing down on the eye of the hook you force the hook point down and forward allowing the barb to come out the hole it made going in. Got to do the trick on a guide first thing in the morning before we got to the lake and was amazed how easy it pops out. First thing I heard after yanking on the line was the hook bouncing of the window in the convenience store.

Hate to admit but I have used the same method 3 times but did not have the guts to use the line; just used the same pressure technique and pliers. Also had to push two through and cut off. Is 5 a record?

If it is one of those megabass with the reverse barb it will shred the skin. If it's a regular hook it wont

I have used this on two people, one a guy who called me on the lake to come help him get a rattletrap hook out of his hand and another I hooked in the back of the head with a 4/0 Gamakatsu fishing three in a boat with Carolina rigs. Both of them said they didn't feel a thing when I popped the hook out. The guy with the hook in his head is just mad at me for not taking a picture of it first.
