Anyone have a caddo lake report - 05/24/17 05:21 PM

Headed down to caddo this weekend. Anyone have a report they would share? I have heard the giant salvania is worse than usual. How bad is it? I'm staying in uncertain and we have rented a house with a boathouse. Will I be able Get the boat to it? I have been on the lake a few times and usually fish the turtle shell and old folks areas. Are these areas still good? Thanks

Was there Mother's Day, they had just started the flow from Lake O' The Pines. I had maybe 2 bites in 2 hours of pre-fishing. Nothing after lunch, so abandoned plans and did something else. I don't know about "usual", because I have only been on the lake twice, but it is pretty bad. Depending how close the house is to Shady Glade, you should be able to get into the boat stall. Main lake was worse than the river, but the backwaters of the bayou and the main lake area we tried were THICK. Fewer pads, but that could've been changed in the last two weeks.

Lakes up like 1.5ft since last Friday. Bite is good on frog and creature baits. Just mostly pick what u wanna throw. I been averaging 30-50 fish a trip with 5-7 overs

Also there will be over 100 boats Saturday for a big payday tourny out there plus another high school benefit deal going on. Also salvania is hit or miss depending on wind. Turtle shell is full of current but few fish there and old folks is pretty much all Salvania these days. It's day to day though

Thanks for the info. It figures there's a big tournament but the wife was talking about going to Jefferson Saturday anyway so that sounds like a good time to do that.

I fished lake of the pines last weekend and had a great time and caught fish but I already have a place rented on caddo with my wife and son. So we are locked in on caddo for better or worse.

Please update this thread with your observations about the lake and Salvinia. McKinney Bass Club is supposed to be there in a few weeks. I just want to see how it progresses from two weeks ago.

Lake has been fishing good. Water up about a foot and half. Current and muddy up around the river in a lot of places. Salvinia is a pain and it just depends on the wind what is fishable.
