Best lake with vegitation near DFW? - 05/23/17 12:45 PM

Good morning Gents!

I would like to fish somewhere this weekend that has quality vegitation. I really want to fish some Lilly Pads with a Popin' Pad Crasher or other top waters...

Any suggestions on the best lakes right now near DFW?

Thanks for the replies...

Will Athens be a mad house though?

Davy Crockett used to have lots of pad around the entire lake.

I haven't been on it in a few years.

I was at Fairfield yesterday. Lots of green stuff all around.

2 areas with pads on Lake Worth, also come coontail, pondweed, a little hydrilla, and of course reeds. Unfortunately bass on Lake Worth don't live in the Lilly Pads... they look awesome just never do worth a darn when I stop to fish them.

I was at Welsh a little more than a week ago and temps were 82-87. Grass everywhere! They took down the cooling towers so it looks real different.

Partner and I caught 15 from about 8:00-4:00. Would have caught more if we had found the pattern sooner. Fish were on wood near grass but not in the grass itself. Crankbaits did the trick. Figured this out around 1:00. Before that we only had three in the boat.

Tawakoni has tons of flooded cover. Even found some submerged grass.

How far did you have to run to find that?

Brad that is midlake below the bridge actually....several of the pockets have either big pad fields or big floatillas of grass. Not to mention there's a ton of flooded brush in a ton of pockets as well. The east side has more pad fields that I saw....this is from 2 weekends ago....

I agree about the lack of pressure...how has the fishing been on Richland Chambers lately? I have not been out that way in many moons!

we had our club tourney out there 2 weeks ago (same weekend as media) ours took 20lbs to win...Media took 28 to win I believe. Fished top water and flipped grass and docks all day. Caught 40-50 fish easy. The morning bite was fantastic.
