Sandlin, Cypress, Grapevine, Lewisville, or...? - 04/13/17 04:04 AM
Taking my 17 year old and his friend fishing Friday. I live in Prosper. Trying to decide if I want to spend a tank of gas to Sandlin, a tank of gas back, and boat gas. Other option is Grapevine. Smaller lake I can avoid the wind in. Roberts I hear is tough. Lewisville is tough in the wind for me. I don't know. Anybody want to talk me into Sandlin, Cypress or wherever? Would rather not spend $200+ in gas for anyone day trip, but I want to put them on fish. Any thoughts??

Lew and GV is pretty hot at this point....that's just too far of a drive for a day trip IMO. Go flip bushes and you will succeed!

Davy Crockett lake is fun to fish and just past Lake Bonham.

Okie, thanks for that. We were leaning towards GV already, and will likely head that way tomorrow. As you said, Sandlin/Cypress is just too far for a day trip, and considering the recent change in conditions on those lakes, as much as I think it could be great up shallow on Sandlin, it's just too far.
RedRanger, I've never been on Crockett. That's an interesting thought. I haven't heard much about it, but what little I have heard has always been good.
Thanks,

I have the same dilema...For me it's either Fork, Grapevine, Ol Lew, or Joe Pool...
decisions...decisions!

Lewisville was a little muddy last weekend for us and we caught 13-14" males flipping in the areas where we had been catching good ones. I think we got into a bunch of males guarding fry but anyway it was a tough day for us. We probably caught a dozen fish but no size. I might try somewhere rocky like Grapevine with kids, I would think the water will be a better color.
