As far as soft jerk baits, the Zoom Flukes & Magnum Flukes are tough to beat. I've also had a lot of luck with the M-Pack Shad.

I know it sounds bad but whichever one they are biting. I throw mainly 4 brands and it depends on the day. I like Spro and certain colors of Megabass and Rapala's and Luckycraft.

Soft: Zoom Super & Magnum Flukes; SK Caffeine Shad for a heavier bait.

Hard: I've had success with the Lucky Craft Pointers so I've stayed with them, but there are many good options in this category but don't have experience with them.

Soft, it's hard to beat the Zoom Salty Super Fluke. Hard, it's hard to beat the Megabass Vision 110 or Lucky Craft Pointer 100.

Just like Gary said, it depends on what the fish are biting best that day to determine what is the best bait to throw so you will need a variety of them, hard and soft.

Hard or soft?

Soft--Its tough to beat the Zoom Super Fluke

Hard-- The H20 series is really tough to beat since its a knock off of Megabass (change the split rings and hooks and you have 3 for the price of one Megabass)

Lucky Craft and Smithwick Rogues. My biggest bass have come off Rogues even though I throw Lucky Craft a lot more.

Megabass Vision 110, Jackall Squad Minnows and Lucky Craft Pointers all have their time and place.

Luck-E-Strike Rick Clunn STX Jerkbait. He designed the Mega bass 110 and then took it to Luck E Strike and it's less than half the cost. LC Pointers and a Spro McStick are good as well

Megabass Vision 110. The most used jerkbait around. For a reason. It casts great, is predictable in how it suspends, has great noise, and great hooks. It is the best.

Actually Yuki Ito designed the Vision 110 and Clunn had Luck E Strike make a cheap knock off. The STX will catch fish, but isn't in the same league as the Vision 110.

Yuki Ito designed the Vision 110 many years ago not Clunn. I think you have the Lucky Craft RC 1.5 crankbait in mind. Clunn designed that bait then took it to Luck E Strike.

H2O makes a good jerk bait but Berkley has come out with some great stuff.

I picked up a few of the H2O today and haven't ever used them, did you have to do anything to them to get them to suspend correctly? I've read where some people have added suspend dots.

Re: What brand jerk bait? - 01/11/17 03:27 AM

my son got me into using this technique a few years ago , quickly became one of my favorite's .
Lucky Craft is the best for me so far(confidence thing ?)
Additional questions , for those guys really good at rip baits , do you use the deeper versions and if so , same retrieve /methods ? Under what conditions do you go deeper.
