Trojan batteries

My dad found some trojan agm maintenance free batteries, just wondering if anybody has used them for trolling motor?

What is the reserve capacity?

I have used Trojan SCS 225 batteries, and they are the best IMO. But really, the only figure that matters in a true trolling motor application is reserve capacity.

In our floor machines at work we use nothing but Trojans. These are ride-on machines with a scrubbing brush, a vacuum system & the drive propulsion - all are on at the same time when in use. We get between 5-6 hours of continuous use on one charge (48V).That's probably 200 plus fishing days a year. Even with 5 days a week use, batteries last about 2 years when maintained properly. It's all I run.

Trojans were the best I've ever had. Bought them when Sportsman's Warehouse went out of business....80% off.

Those batteries lasted forever on the water and I sold my boat before I had to replace them.

What's a good reserve capacity to look for?

225 is the highest I have found. I run 200. I wouldn't have a battery that was less than 180. I wouldn't pay for one less than 200.

I don't see a reserve capacity anywhere. It does say 76AH @20 HR and 67AH @5 HR. Whatever that means lol

I think you are talking about the 24 AGM. Those have 137 reserve capacity.

If you haven't already purchased them, then I would look for another option.

Already have them, just debating if they are good to have for trolling motor, or if they aren't meant for trolling motor use, like deep cycle. They look used, but test out good

+1. I had a set in my old Cougar. Great batteries! Lasted just over five years of hard fishing. I could not afford to replace then when the time came. Sold the boat with a set of Sam's batteries.

My dad had 'em in one of his older boats and he never had a problem with 'em. They were pretty strong batteries.

Trojan SCS225 use to cost around $170 at Battery Warehouse in Vidor. Would go three years on hard use and never let you down...
