Just bought a lews. Did I get ripped off?

I just bought a lews American hero spinning rod at academy for $70 but now I realize you can get the rod and reel combo for even cheaper than for what just the pole cost. Am I missing something?

Yes, you're missing the reel. Seriously, sometimes the combos don't use the same exact rod model, but if it is and it's unused, get your receipt and take it back.

return it...I snapped 2 on hooksets just above the lowest eyelet.

Worked there for years and people will steal the reel off the rod. Happens very often this is probably the case
