Falcon Lake- The past two weeks

Falcon Lake- The past two weeks - 12/23/16 01:48 AM

I just returned from two weeks at Falcon Lake and it was a blast. I prefished for the first five days and then guided for the last nine days. Even under frontal conditions we averaged 30-50 fish per day and did manage to land a few hawgs. Caught a few on a crankbait and a few more on the drop shot but the money winner was the Carolina Rig. Water temps took a serious dive after this last major cold front and the big girls weren't really chasin. They wanted the C-rig moving slow in the 16-20ft range. I posted a few of the pics below. People wonder about how safe it is down there and I have never had any issues and I am there quit often. There is at least 50 million DPS cars in Zapata (that might be a little exaggerated)and a ton of Border Patrol agents. As pictured below, there were two Texas Highway Department gun boats cruising the lake at all times. I will be booking trips back to Falcon in February. Big girls will be shallow and it will be game on. If you are interested in fishing this world class lake in February call me at 409 782-4269.

Falcon is a phenomenal lake---I expect several Share-a-Lunkers from it in 2017.

I have not seen the DPS boat in the pic you posted. You would think they would put DPS on the side and not Highway Patrol. Makes people think "Highway Patrol on the water" Only in Texas!!!!
