2 Stroke Oil - Have to be 18?

Anyone ever heard of this? I went to buy premium plus from Academy this evening and went to checkout and the guy asked for my ID and said he couldn't sell it to me and you had to be 18...I'm 17. I've bought the same oil from the same academy multiple times and I've never heard of this rule..is it something new?

I just bought 2 gallons of oil there and they did not ask me anything. Im over 18 though.

I was surprised to find out that to must be 18 to buy Seafoam at Walmart... I guess you can huff it or something???

they asked id when I bought some hooks the other day. they didn't actually make me show it but there system asked them for it.

That's a new one to me. 30 years in the firefighter/paramedic business and I thought I was well versed in "household drugs". Huffing gasoline and paint has been a problem for ever. 2 cycle oil? New one to me.

Yeah that sounds strange. I'm 19 now but bought oil more times than I could count when younger. Somebody trying to do their job too well.

last friday afternoon i picked up my son(12 years old) from school and stopped at academy in dallas, i was on a conference call so he went in to get a gallon of mercury oil, and some swimbias i needed for saturday. he had no problem with cashier.

Hmm..guess I will try again with a different cashier next time haha
