Line Suggestions

So I'm still learning on how to fish for LMB since moving from Cali to Texas(wasn't doing much lmb fishing). I finally picked up a bait casting combo and getting the hang of using it with confidence. Coming from using spinners I always used seagar fluro line. Since switching to bait casting, I've been seeing braided being used in all kinds of colors.

I currently have spider wire braid 16lb ultracast invisaline. Did I make a good choice? What type of line would you all recommend...? I mostly been fishing ponds out here in Bastrop, occasionally lake Bastrop as well. Any input for this noob would be greatly appreciated.

For what you are doing that will be just fine.

I would have used the Invizx.

Rumor has it sunline is the best fluro out there but its expensive. If i were bond fishing, id have a 30+# braid for the nasty thick stuff and some Big game mono for everything else. No need to get fancy til you start tournament fishing honestly.

Ill look into it sunline, I don't mind spening extra money on line.

Invizx is fluorocarbon made by Seagaur. I use it for fishing soft plastics and jigs 12-20# test. I also mix in P-line CXX for moving baits and top water and I use braid for frogs and punching thick grass and cover.

Sunline or seaguar is a ford or chevy convo. I'm on the seaguar invisx side. It breaks down like this man

Monofilament: floats,not very abrasion resistant, lacks sensitivity, has more stretch than others.-uses:top water and moving baits(preference)

Fluorocarbon:sinks,abrasion resistant, more sensitivity, harder to see underwater, less stretch than mono. Uses-soft plastics,jigs,moving baits(pretty much anything that isn't supposed to be on top of the water.)

Braid: floats, very abrasion resistant, extremely sensitive, zero stretch. Uses- frogs, flippin and pitching heavy dense cover.

Fluorocarbon for worm or jig fishing in lighter cover, also for crankbaits and other moving baits. Monofilament for top waters like spooks and poppers. Braid for flipping, frogs, or worms and jigs in heavy cover. Never use bellow 50lb braid, it's thinner than fluorocarbon with more strength. Fluorocarbon that's thin like 12lb is good for clear water and moving baits because it allows it to go to the depth you want. Monofilament floats giving your top water the right action.

Pretty much it in a "nutshell".

If you are trying to combine all/most fishing into one or two rods then go with 15lb Big Game Mono. It's the best type of line (Mono) for all around. Topwaters, worms, spinnerbaits, etc. The good thing is that it is less likely to spook the fish like Braid and it floats for topwaters. We used Mono for years as the all around general purpose line before the Braid and Fluorocarbon was released. NOW later on when you want to get more specific on your combo rods then you can have one with Braid and one with Fluoro like Mike talked about above. Right now just keep it simple.
