Lake Granbury any boat safety concerns? - 10/19/16 02:04 AM

Going to be heading out to lake Granbury for the first time. Not asking for fishing advice, but wanted to know if there is any boat safety concerns I should be aware of (boat lanes, where to and not to run, etc). Thanks!

Follow channel markers. DO NOT cut the corners. Very shallow and lots of trees out side markers.

Follow the markers, if you can't find the next marker you better be idling. Don't go out in the dark running around Saturday morning not knowing what you are doing or you will have problems.

Follow the markers or navionics and you will be fine, don't try to cut through the H or straight diagonal to decordova unless you know the trail, lakes fishing very good as well! Listen to what they said about cutting corners except you can cut the corner around the bend by canyon

Last time I went to Granbury the biggest boating concern seemed to be other boaters.

One of the few lakes that channel is marked with strobe lights on top of buoys.

Like said above^^^ Granbury is a very stumpy lake but a very easy lake to run. It has a well marked buoy system from the river to the dam and they are completely dependable. Simply follow the buoys and you will be fine. The only place you could get in trouble is a few warning buoys that mark some rogue trees close to the channel. These bouys are the standard diamond marked hazard bouys. Just line up the channel bouys and run with confidence. Outside this channel there are lots of areas with stumps some people don't even realize are there.

Thanks for all the advice! Good to know there's a well marked lane. Gonna take it slow and idle when off the buoys.
