1 ft of 65 # braid tied to tip pulling a Johnson silver minnow w white skirt.
Lay rod across lap, tap rod making rod tip slap the water.
Very old school. Still works !

The old guys us to use a "bob" as a lure. It was a ball of white deer hair with strands of other material mixed in to cover 3 treble hooks.
