The One Bait? - 09/13/16 08:31 PM

I'm still a rookie, so I was just wondering what is the one bait you always have on, your go to for any Season? Thanks for any help!

Re: The One Bait? - 09/13/16 08:47 PM

Texas rigged with a...

1/4 oz tungsten sinker
3/0 Gamakatsu EWG hook
YUM dinger, Zoom trick worm, or Berkley 7" power worm.

30 pound Suffix 832 Braid main line to a 10 pound Co-Polymer leader.

Temple Fork Outfitters 7'6" medium action rod with Pflueger 6930 spinning reel (I use spinning equipment with all bottom contact presentations)

If the winds are calm enough, and I could only take one rod to the lake, this would be the one.

Hope it helps,
Bryan

Re: The One Bait? - 09/13/16 09:47 PM

My 'any season' go-to bait is a bluegil colored swimjig with a green pumpkin rage grub trailer. Caught fish on that swimjig in every season.

Re: The One Bait? - 09/14/16 02:04 AM

1/2oz spinner bait , probably in a green pumpkin/ natural color. I can fish it deep with a countdown, I can fish it shallow, I can fish it fast, I can fish it slow.
The beauty of this sport as I am discovering is, we do not have to limit ourselves. I have had nice luck on worms lately, when I bank fished before getting my kayak, I had nice success on a 3/18 oz spinner bait in craw color. i would not get the biggest fish, but I could get numbers and enjoyment.

Re: The One Bait? - 09/14/16 02:31 AM

IMO the easiest bait to throw is a 1/4oz owner screw lock shakey head paired with a watermelon red trick worm! U can fish it in 1 fow all the way out as to 20+ fow. Slow short drags and its gets bit in every situation in every season!

T-rig worm. Both my PBs have been on this. When in doubt I through a worm.

I love throwing chatterbaits, but I have the highest confidence in wacky rigging senkos. They just catch more fish than anything else I throw.

Re: The One Bait? - 09/14/16 03:47 PM

I grew up on a T-riged anything.

I got stuck on a 4.5" LFT Live Magic Shad, in Watermelon Red Pearl, on a weighted swimbait hook, or bladed swimjig, or bladed swimjig with skirt, chart dipped tail.
