Today I was fishing after a small thunderstorm had passed. One small cloud was hanging around but looked harmless. I had heard no thunder in around an hour and decided to put the boat on the water. I had fished for probably 20 minutes and seen a flash out of the corner of my eye and knew exactly it was lightning. I was flipping docks and felt the electricity pass through my body and heard and seen a pop of electricity pass from my toes to the deck of my boat. Crazy! You couldn't have fit a greased bb up the you know what. Lol I thought I was in the clear, be careful out there guys. Obviously so should I.

Keep fishing. Lightning never strikes twice in the same place...

So you got struck by lightning?
No, I guess I was just close enough that it charged the air around me.

That is a 6 mile area around a lightning strike that can happen.

that is scary . I heard another story that was similar . Two boats were fishing within a hundred feet of each other in a large cove , same weather pattern was happening . One of the guys had his wife in his boat when lightning struck towards the other side of this large cove , so much electricity charged the area , the wife's hair literally stood on end , both boaters screamed out what should they do and they decided to head for the boat dock across the lake at full speed .
My question , wouldn't the energy of the boat attract lightning ?
tight lines ,
