Has anyone used the swing jig in place of the shakyhead? I've researched it and it seemed to be promising for worm fishing? Any tips or info would greatly be appreciated
I think they work really well for offshore fish that are holding close to the bottom. I typically use a creature bait or a craw with them, however, they work really well with just about anything you wanna put on there.
Works well with big floating worms like the Xcite Maximus.
+1....but the biffle bug works tremendously well...the first time i bought one and used it...sooner run color. Fishing a saturday tournament on Waxahachie....first spot cast it out...thunk before it hit the bottom...5 Pounder
Funny I should read this post as I have been wacking them on this bait! Several lake I fish have man made rock piles and I am amazed how well this bait come through them verses when I used to use squarebills. I caught a lot of fish last week just reeling through the rocks and rarely hung up. I have a tourney tomorrow with shallow rock piles and pretty excited about the swing jig for this tourney. Check out barlows tackle where they sell these swing heads in bulk and have a much better price on them. Good luck
Don't forget to try baits like a Baby Paca Craw with a Zoom Glass Tube Rattle inserted, or a Zoom Z Craw w/ no rattle. I have had very good luck with both of these baits using a swing jig head.
I get the best results on rocky/hard bottom points, flats and ledges. Keep it moving like you would a crankbait or a slow rolled spinner bait.
