Snag Proof Bobby's Perfect Frog

I really like this frog in the Cicada color. I think it mimics a real frog very well and bass always seem to inhale it. I also find that it walks very easily and my hookup ratio is high with this frog. Can't go wrong with a Snag Proof!

Spro Bronzeye Shad 65

There are times when I wanna imitate shad, and that's when I use the Bronzeye Shad. I feel like it mimics a shad better than a traditional shad, maybe it's just a confidence thing. I also have a great hookup ratio with this bait and it walks easily. I typically stick with the Nasty Shad color or Killer Gill color.

Basic colors are all good. We use popping frogs a lot.

Check out this video on how to get better hook ups with your frog.

I prefer a single hook frog; get a whole lot better hook set. Give it two seconds after you see the water explode. We all get excited to see that splash and want to set immediately, count to two before setting the hook. Most bass with hit it coming up and turn back down, then cross his eyes. The Two Second Rule Applies to most top water, with a buzz bait I wait for that instant tug.
Just my two cents worth. laugh

I like the Spro Frogs.

Only 2 things I do is change the hooks out to Trokar 4/0 and I add heat shrink to them so the frog never fills up with water on me. That way I can fish all day without my frog sinking and I hook more fish with the Trokars. All you need is 3/16 heat shrink, a lighter and some 4/0 Trokars.

Here is how

A lot of this is personal preference:

I don't like smaller frogs, they don't create as much of a disturbance and are harder to walk.

The longer the frog, the easier it is to walk. Frogs with a keel shape or a keel weighted hook are easier to walk.
Popping frogs are easier to walk due to the increased forward resistance of the cupped mouth (especially in wind)

Black, white, natural green, and a bluegill color are all you need-- Most of the time, color doesn't matter
However, I have more confidence throwing a white frog during the shad spawn and a blue gill color during the 1st gill spawn.
Not a fan of lots of chartreuse on a frog
Very clear water--natural green

With the Texas wind, I'm throwing a popping frog most of the time except in very thick vegetation (the cupped mouth gets in the way) In very thick vegetation, I throw a regular black frog with some added tiny weights in the frog--sits down better in the vegetation and makes more of a disturbance (easier for the bass to find it in the thick stuff)
