I mean obviously people fish in e. Tex.
I'm moving in about a week to letourneau university in longview tx to start my degree in aviation management/air traffic control, but who cares about that.. this is a fishing forum!
I hear east Texas has some good fish but where? I don't mind finding fish but some direction to go off would be good. I want to start a fishing team at my school but I don't know if there are going to be any other kids who like to bass fish.. let's hope there is!!
If any of yall have any info on the Tyler longview area you don't mind sharing I'd love to hear it! Thanks yall. -jordan

You are going to be in fish heaven out there. Take you pick between pines, lone star, gilmer, Pirky, Martin creek, murvaul, caddo, Tyler, gladewater, fork, not to mention not far to Rayburn or Toledo bend and lots of others. You are in the best fishing area in Texas IMO.

Not fishing related but as to going to school for ATC, check USAJobs/Air Traffic Control. They've announced a hiring from off the streets is fixing to happen and it may end up saving you a lot of money. Worst case scenario, is you end up getting your degree in ATC, but this may be an expressway to your future career, at a much lower cost.

Caddo is right there close and it is a very cool place to fish. You have a couple of dozen great lakes within an hour drive. Longview is a nice town too. Good luck getting that degree/certification.

Where is a good area to stay overnight in the Pinkston area?
dreamweaver96, Do you have a boat?

I have a 12 ft Jon boat with a little stick steer trolling motor that gives me a little better access than banks.
I have a place out at Bob Sandlin (not on the water...too expensive). I also have a 2012 BassCat Cougar. I'll take you out on some on our East Texas lakes once it cools down a little. I fish all the lakes mentioned in this thread.
Summer time in Texas is too hot. I usually only do a few hours in the AM but once the sun comes out, I'm usually done. I also fish in the PM right before it gets dark.
Once it cools down a little, I'm ready to go.

Have it to yourself??? Not unless you go during the week. Of course by February the spawn is normally done so maybe then.

I really do appreciate the offer! As long as it's before duck season I'm in! I love to fish but duck hunting is my favorite hobby.. but just barely!
Thank you to everyone who posted! I love this forum!
