Tough Day - 08/07/16 05:42 PM

Fished from 530-1200 today with my son and was only able to come up with one dink. We each lost one at the boat. Anyone having any luck on Eagle Mountain right now?

The biggest fish I've caught out there this year was 3.5 lbs back in early june. I need to do something different because everything I catch is 10 to 14 inches long.

Well at least I don't feel so bad. Rough when I'm taking my 8 year old with me and we don't catch much. He's a trooper at least and keeps coming out. He did have about a 4 pounder on a swim bait today I was just too slow with the net and he jumped off right at the boat. Might have to hit Worth back up to get something going for him.

Don't count on Worth being any better. We fished both lakes today and both were tough.

My best friends dad has taken us out a few times this year and it's been slow but they're there. My friend and I went to the weigh in of one of his dad's tournaments at eagle mountain in mid June. His big bass was 5.67. His total weight was 12 and change. He finished 11th. We're having most of our luck on drop shots and shakey heads wherever there's shade. I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow morning.

We caught 5 or 6 this morning and there was no distinct pattern. Caught a couple on a wacky finesse, a couple more on a weightless fluke, and my last one hit a squarebill. Oh yeah, the first cast of the day with a lipless crank caught a sandie.

I've been doing a lot better on worth than EM

I was on EM yesterday and today. Got nothing today. Yesterday at sunrise I got what looked like 2 pound bass up to the boat and he jumped off before I could get him in. It was in the reeds around the island on a topwater popper very shallow. There were tons of fish jumping a little further out in about 6 feet of water but I couldn't get them to bite on a popper or shallow crankbait.
