Frozen on Lake Fork

Frozen on Lake Fork - 08/01/16 04:53 PM

Wanted to show you guys what happened on Saturdays trip. Probably the coolest thing I've experienced as a guide. Taylor is 4 years old and caught a 9 lb bass that measured just under 24 inches on a "Frozen" Elsa pole from the movie. Fish was caught on an under spin in 18 foot of water. Congrats to Taylor and her dad Jason.

Thats cool! When i was a kid, we used to catch massive carp on rods and reels of that caliber.

Talk about putting your customers on fish. Impressive by both the guide and the little girl. I mean I feel I have no excuse for loosing a fish if she can land a 9 lber on a Elsa rod and reel.

My first thought. Guess I need to sell all my rods and re-invest in the cartoon versions.

Re: Frozen on Lake Fork - 08/02/16 08:10 PM

This would NEVER happen to one of my grandchildren!

Maybe a 9 pound bass - but it would be caught on a 6'6" All Star PMS series 100 modulus graphite rod with a 6.3:1 gear ratio Shimano Scorpion reel with 30 pound Power Pro Utra braid line with an Owner Pro Series 5/0 hook and a 6" magnum fluke in the disco violet shade in 15 feet of water suspended over 30 FOW off of a long tapering point on a secondary main lake point using an intermediate stop and slow retrieve ----- certainly not on a Hello Kitty rod and a Beetle Spin!!!!!

Just kidding of course - Few things make me feel better than seeing a youngster enjoying what the Creator has provided.

guess this bunks the theory of more expensive rods and reels help you catch more and bigger fish.
