I'm glad to find this thread because I was just about to post the same question today. I went to the reeds around the island on Eagle Mountain this morning and got skunked. Started at sunrise at 6:30 and spent about 2 hours there. Trolled completely around the island. I saw fish jumping at the surface so I used topwater most of the time (popper and buzzbait). Never got a bite. I found an area on the north side of the island where I could navigate deep inside the reeds to where the trees are. I thought this would be a less pressured area but no bites. The wind was blowing from the south and it was pretty choppy, but when I got to the north side it was very calm. Sounds like I should have tried a jig. I just got more serious about bass fishing about 6 months ago and read about how jigs are the greatest thing since flush toilets. Never gotten a bite on a jig. And I have gotten good at accuracy with flipping/pitching but still no luck.
On an unrelated note, anybody know what that building is on the northeast corner of the island? Here are the google maps coordinates:
