So that's the bow stop and winch still attached to the eye?

It's not a TX boat? That only happens on our north Texas lakes

Re: Can you spot the mistake? - 07/22/16 01:39 PM

Here let me help him out. It was easier to cross the lake and let his friend have the boat instead of driving around the lake?

After seeing a guy not unstrap, unhook or plug his boat before he backed it into the lake and immediately slammed it into reverse as soon as it hit the water a few weeks ago. Anything is possible.

Guess someone was heading to his secret spot and he was in a hurry. smile

I see a logical reason for this...

He sold the whole rig to a guy across the lake!

Re: Can you spot the mistake? - 07/22/16 05:12 PM

Mythbusters proved that the boat will float and run with the trailer still attached. They just had a little jon boat so it wouldn't plane out but I am sure in a larger boat a (very) inexperienced boater may not even know at slow speeds. That and maybe he is just a moron.

I read a story about one of the border lakes...I think it may have been Falcon...where thieves stole both boat and trailer and drove them across the lake to a waiting vehicle where they could hook up and go.

I would assume he is transporting his trailer to his 'back yard', where he has a ramp with a winch setup to launch/recover his boat.

Nothing wrong, out-of-picture truck has a snorkel.

"Snorkel" -- haha, there's one funny word for you.

Surely there would be more drag/turbulence in the water if it wasn't but really only one way to find out.

Any takers?

We did that a few years ago to get trailer to dock.
Mounted front of trailer to front of slip on a hinge and back to cables to lift.
Of course we took of the tires.
It is heck to drive a boat with the trailer attached.

I think there's a few on Cedar Creek just as you describe and that's one way to get them there I guess.

Just the rear tie downs on the trailer. They were the lever type. Trailer never moved but the boat plowed and wandered all over. We did it on a very calm day.

Re: Can you spot the mistake? - 07/24/16 08:01 PM

Possible during a flood and moving his boat to high ground. Many did this when the Sabine River flooded a few months back.
