http://www.bassfan.com/docktalk_article/16646/new-mann-s-crank-will-dive-to-40-feet#.V4PjqdIrIY0And I'm not sure my Power Tackle swimbait/XD10 rod is gonna be enough

Nice, have you tried the XLC-3-7'11" rod? Looking for another cranking rod for the XD-8's and XD-10's.

Yes, I have that one too and you'd really like it for the magnum cranks.

I can only throw a Manns 30+ a couple times before being winded. Cant even imagine a 40.

To answer your question. This is to deep in my opinion. It's getting to the point we will need a musky rod to throw these things. Plus how many bass actually stay in 40 feet. Some probably get thay deep but In my case, I've never caught one thay deep. Most deep schools or fish I find are in 18-25 feet. (But then again this is texas not the Ozark lakes or California )

Wow, Never thought I would need to get anything other a jig or C-rig that deep.

Caught a jillion fish on the old Mann's 30 Plus. It would hit 23' on a long cast with 20# mono.
It will be interesting to see how deep the new 4-0 will dive on a Cast. My guess is 28-30 feet on a long cast if you're lucky.
