I have a friend considering purchasing this skeeter. Seller says it was fixed with 12 layers of fiberglass and solid as a rock?
Feedback please.

I would not buy it. But if it's cheap, maybe it will serve its intended purpose.

Looks like a home job.... If it's cheap enough could have it fixed by a pro repair shop

The fiberglass has too many air bubbles and porous holes in it. May not leak but will not stand up to too much abuse. Like mentioned above, if cheap enough buy it, and take it to a professional to repair.

$2000 is too much! Love the two-tone carpet, though.

If that boat is from somewhere near Denton, I saw it on Craig's list a few weeks ago for $400.

Show the pictures to Chris at Classic and see what he has to say about it. I would pass unless I was willing to sink a bunch of money into it.

Looking at the "unprofessional" patch job and carpet job just walk IMHO!
Let the guy meet you at Classic and go from there or see if classic will meet you there, then you will have a professional opinion on site

Just for reference on possible repair cost, for a 2" x 2" spot on the bottom of my hull, I was quoted $500 to fix it water tight but not cosmetically perfect. That is a MUCH bigger spot and I am guessing a lot more damage once you grind away the bad stuff!!! Fiberglass repair professionally done is not cheap!!

Something don't look right on the front deck like it was sawed off or something. The rod box lid is longer than the deck for one thing and the seam from the rod box lid to the other side looks kinda funny too.
The fiberglass patch is awfull.
If it had a good running 200 Vmax on back and a good troll motor, I'd consider it.

might make a good pond boat but I wouldn't want to take out in any water deeper than 4-5ft deep. For that kind of money you could buy a boat with a motor and a graph for pete's sake.

I'm with Fouz- $2k is too much without a motor. Do you have a motor?

Putty (bondo)gets rock solid also. Not a good repair job. It would have to be redone correctly. I would pass also.

Step away from the ledge my friend. I picked up a CL boat in similar condition for literally $100 and all I could do was trash the boat and ended up selling the trailer to pay for the disposal fee.

I'd be scared...this part of the boat receives a lot of stress and friction from running on the waters surface...if the repair was done by a pro shop that would guarantee the work - first it would look better - then maybe, but a garage job I would pass...
