Lake Cypress Springs is NUTS!

Lake Cypress Springs is NUTS! - 06/27/16 05:06 PM

Went to Cypress this last Saturday to pre-fish for an upcoming tournament. It is a night tournament and when we scheduled it we, the club, thought the boat traffic would be down. Wrong we were hammered till 10 with wakes and still till 12-1 with cruisers and music blaring. I realize it is a recreational lake and geared that way. Not really upset with the recreational people more so at our club for scheduling Cypress in the summer. My rant, sorry to TFF.

Come back October first and there won't be hardly anyone out there. We go out there pretty much every weekend unless we have something going on at home, but I much prefer the time frame from Nov 1st - April 30th. It's awesome out there during those times because 90% of the wake boats and jet skis don't have their stuff on the water.

Best move I ever made at cypress was loading up the boat and going over to monti.

Did the boat blaring "American Girl" come screaming by you entirely too close at 1:30AM? Happened to me out there this month at our clubs night tourney. It looks to be a beautiful lake the one time I fished it but those rec boats are nuts out there, I thought Tyler was bad.... Yikes.

They have a few wake board boats with the super wedges now, some of those waves are closer to 3' haha

You have to see the positives..... #1) We seemed to get a bite from a spot when an idiot would drive over the top of the fish. #2) We saw some really nice looking bikinis up close.

Slefer, exactly the lake that I thought of when I posted. No he was playing some kind of hip-hop music so loud that I got bit and the fish let go when a bass note hit at the same time and vibrated the whole area and yes he was within 100 yards a couple of times. He was so close one time that I yelled REALLY as loud as I could and don't think he heard me. It was around 12:30-1:00AM.

The same guy was headed directly toward us when we were fishing a main lake dock at around 1:30-2:00 a.m. He was on plane and even though we had our lights on I was afraid he was going to plow over us. He closed to within 100 yards before I could get to my spotlight and hit him with it. He came off plane just long enough to go around us, then headed down lake to PO the rest of you down there.

Drunk idiot...I hope he doesn't kill someone one of these nights.

It was probably the same guy, he went from rap to country to classic rock. Tyler can get bad at times but I think Cypress Springs gets the nod when it comes to rec boats.

Razor, I figured he had to bug more than just me out there. I think he was trying to get as close as he could. He made a bee line at me while I was fishing a main lake dock so I watched him get closer and closer meanwhile Tom Petty is belting his heart. Finally I said alright, I had my head lamp on so I put it on strobe and looked at him. He veered right back towards the main lake, slowed down but never came off plane and he was off again, Tom Petty still heartbroken.

I've fished it last two weekends, just wondering if the lake is ever patrolled, heading to the back of coves doesn't help anymore, the No Wake buoys are ignored. I bet if we started ignoring them someone would show up. Positive side of it is that you will catch some fish there no matter how bad the traffic.

Pumadon, what kind of idiotic Club would schedule a tournament on Cypress Spring in the middle of the summer recreational boater season? That's crazy! The President and Tournament Committee should be fired!

Man that is some rig you got. I should consider buying one like it, sell my home, and get the heck out of Dallas for good. Wake up every morning to pine trees and doves cooing.
