Here is the lineup for Bassmaster University. I am going to head up there from McKinney. Figure it is worth the hour drive, especially since it is free.

Saturday would be the best day for the expo. All the pros are doing seminars all day. Hopefully they will get a good turn out. I went to the weigh in yesterday and the booths were not set up yet.

I was passing through headed south at 2:00pm this afternoon. Traffic was horrendous headed northbound from the weigh-in to probably 4-5miles south of that. Looked like an absolute beating! I seen pros boats fighting through all the traffic.

Should be worth the drive this weekend. There was road work going north that shouldn't be going on this weekend. There was also a major wreck at one of the traffic signals about 1:00 on the northbound side just south of Durant that shut the highway down for a while. The parking is really good and it's free, there is no charge for the expo and the event center is right there with restrooms, a snack bar and air conditioning to cool off in. Most of the pros are working the expo Saturday so it should be a good time. If I didn't work weekends I would definitely be headed back up.

It was in response to a post and was in regards to Friday only. Wanted to be positive and share some info about the site and this weekend's activities. Like I said if I wasn't working this weekend I would be there. I hope that everyone who has a chance to go does and has a great time.

Not sure if this was mentioned before but except for children's activities Bassfest is all being held outdoors on an asphalt parking lot. Be prepared for the heat.

Re: Bassfest at Texoma, who' going??? - 06/12/16 01:46 AM

I made the short drive across the river to check out the expo today. Overall is was a fun trip and I'm glad I went. I was a little disappointed that the expo was outside. It was hot.

The best parts:

Talked to Edwin Evers about pecans and his pecan farm. If you haven't tried his pecans, they are some of the best, most buttery sweet pecans I have ever tasted. He was genuinely thankful and happy we enjoy them. Get some, you won't be sorry. http://www.edwineverspecans.com/

The Shimano Reel Garage is one of the greatest services I've ever seen any vendor offer at an expo. Reel servicing by a shimano technician was free, and it included complete disassembly, cleaning, and parts replacement where needed, including bearings and drag washers. This was way beyond what I expected, and was worth the trip alone. I'm so thankful, my reels are like new again. Shimano is an amazing company for offering this outstanding service. None of the other reel companies were providing any service like this.

I also learned a few good tips from the BASS University seminars.

Warm is certainly an understatement, but it was a great day and I'm sure glad I went.

I went on Sat and had a great time also. I wish I would have known about the Shimano servicing since I am a Shimano guy.

I met everyone I wanted to meet except EE and Tharp (didn't see them there- probably missed them) and I got lots of pictures.

Heat didn't bother me much but it would have been better in the air conditioned Expo. I was certainly glad I went... it made my whole weekend!!

I got there right at 10AM and the traffic wasn't bad- looked bad when we left.
