Bait casting Drop Shot rod? - 05/19/16 03:19 PM

Hey guys, I'm in the market for an additional drop shot casting rod and want to know what you are using.
I currently use a Falcon Cara Weightless worm rod and it does fine but I wanted to see if there are other options that I may like better before I go buy another falcon.

I'm using a Falcon Bucoo 6 1/2 MH and it works great. The Bucoo MH is more like a medium.

I have a TFO 6'9 Medium casting rod which works great. I've found TFO rods to be a little lighter than the stated action so this might be more ML. I've caught some good fish in timber and around docks on this rod so it has decent backbone. I see that TFO makes a drop shot specific rod but I use the regular bass rod.

Duckett 7' medium crankbait rod.......trust me!

Dobyns made a good one too, 701c, but they no longer make it in casting.

+1 Ron builds a great drop shot rod. I was also using a Falcon Cara until I tried one of his. You'll love it.

thumbDuckett medium action is about as good as they come. Spinning rod or bait caster, this action works great on drop shot. Very sensitve, using 20# power pro and fluoro 10-12# leader.

G. Loomis Drop Shot Rod

When it comes to baitcasting drop shot rods, this is creme of the crop. I typically like a higher end rod for drop shotting just because in the end, performance is everything. The 822 C is a fantastic drop shot rod and will suit every single drop shot situation. These rods have super sensitive blanks and the whole rod itself is incredibly lightweight. This rod is definitely worth the money and I'm 100% positive that you'll be satisfied with it.

He makes two baitcaster drop shot rods, two different piece points and rod guides. Get the better one. You will love it. I used to use a Dobyns 702 in the past but I like the Reel Time rod WAY better. You will feel the smallest bite with it because of the awesome tip this rod has and it has plenty of backbone. I have a Curado 50E on mine and my wife has a Daiwa Steez on hers. She loves it.
You can also choose what color wraps you want on it if you choose to get him to build you one.
I have a third one in the boat as a back up.

He is building me one with the better guides and I upgraded from cork to carbon fiber grips.
Great service and I learned a lot by talking with him.
Cant wait to pick it up tomorrow and use it this Saturday.

Ron is a great guy. He just built my wife a rod to help with her hands. She has had carpal tunnel surgery and normal every day rods make her hands hurt after a few hours fishing, so Ron took the time and fitted her grips to fit her hands. He had her try several grips to get the right ones for her. She is all excited and he did it in the colors she wanted with her name on it.

Thank you Ron for your help.
