VanDamage is smoking them this morning. And look who's right behind him, EE and Clunn.

Re: Elites on Toledo Bend - 05/12/16 02:28 PM

Then Ike, Jones, Combs. Talk about a stacked top 10!

Re: Elites on Toledo Bend - 05/12/16 03:11 PM

You know Van Dam and Ike have to be hungry for a win.

The weights according to Basstrakk are ridiculous for this early in the day.

Re: Elites on Toledo Bend - 05/12/16 03:18 PM

Nice! Will anyone bust 30 lbs today?

Re: Elites on Toledo Bend - 05/12/16 03:27 PM

Keith Combs has culled 13 bass already at 10:30 am!!! I wish I could cull a bass by 10:30!!! bang

Yes. KVD already has 24.

Re: Elites on Toledo Bend - 05/12/16 04:32 PM

No shock to the weights already. Someone could possibly bust 40lbs also. That wouldn't shock me
Posted By: jwatts77

Re: Elites on Toledo Bend - 05/12/16 04:44 PM

Will KVD back off his fish now? He's already culled up 10 pounds 4 ounces to get his 24 pounds. It' only day one afterall!

Ever's fish may not last for 4 days. He has 20 pounds but has only culled one fish. Or he's already left them and gone somewhere else.

I posted the "live" link so you could see the times. Begins tomorrow at 7:30am. Continues Saturday and Sunday from 7:30am to 1:30 PM. Saturday and Sunday are best as they have cameras in/on the top four or five guys boats.

I saw that. He followed that up with a 3 pounder. He's 12 in AOY points before this event. I REALLY want to see him make the 2017 Classic on Conroe!

BassTrakk has Steve Kennedy up there with 20+. That guy should be every weekend warrior's inspiration. No sponsors, older boat, limited electronics, little to no practice, yet he's having another strong tournament and sitting top 10 in the AOY. I have nothing but respect for that guy.

On Ike Live a few weeks ago, they said the Elites prefered no one fishes it during the tourney. They understood it was public waters but just made it easier if for three days you could fish elsewhere as a courtesy.

He is withdrawing from the tourney. He has committed to somebody's graduation tomorrow. But I would think his total weight would still be recorded on the boards.

His 24-10 from yesterday is still up there, he's just zero'd out for today.

He is not withdrawing from the tournament, fitter. But if something doesn't happen for him soon, he's gonna miss the cut.

Yea he's got an empty livewell. The camera guy was asking him if he wanted to talk a little for the camera and he said no. I believe the quote was 'I need to be entertaining people by catching fish, not by talking".

I may have misunderstood the Live reporting, they didn't say he planned on flying back. But if he doesn't make the cut it wont matter anyway.
Posted By: fouzman

Re: Elites on Toledo Bend - 05/13/16 07:06 PM

Correct. If he made the cut, he was going to fly home tomorrow after weigh-in, attend his son's graduation, then fly back that night for the final day. I really hope something happens for him before time to come in. The man is different but he is a class act. Seeing him and Kevin 1 & 2 yesterday made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Greatest angler debate, live.

I wouldn't go behind an Elite and fish his spots either.
But I sure would weigh a 4 pound fish.
I have made thousands of birdies while playing golf, but I still fist pump every birdie I make. So in fishing if the bass looks over 3 it gets weighed.
2 & under = par, just a smile
3 & over = birdie, fist pump and weigh in
5 & up = eagle, doing the happy dance and pics
7 & up = hole-in one, I am mounting the lure
I have 8 hole in ones

Lol, if this is true, you have to be a complete jackwagon to sit there and fish beside any pro competing in an event. There's no argument I'll listen to about how/why that's acceptable and yes I know it's public water. It's bad enough to be a part of the group following them around...

Re: Elites on Toledo Bend - 05/14/16 06:12 PM

I agree with the part about not fishing where/while they are trying to "work".
But as far as "following", that should be perfectly acceptable. Golfers have galleries following them every hole, step & swing. Baseball, football, soccer, bowling and even "curling" has galleries right on top of them. Why shouldn't fishermen have boats following ?

In the examples you gave, the people are not sitting in the playing field directly interfering with the outcome of the event.

Re: Elites on Toledo Bend - 05/14/16 07:04 PM

I think most every sane human will agree that it's crazy to get in the pro's way(affect the outcome). But to those who think the followers(gallery, fans...) are out of line by simply being there: take the spectator out of the sport and see what happens to the sport. You think sponsors will pay to have nobody see their advertising? They want it to be a spectator sport.

Alot of guys marking his spots for McDonalds I'm sure. While watching live, kvd looked over and said "they're idling right on the spot"

That is absolutely not accurate. You obviously have never been to a golf tournament. Golf shots are affected by the gallery all the time. A golf gallery is much closer to a green or fairway than a boat would get on top of a fisherman. And oh by the way, ever seen a baseball fan interfer with a fielders opportunity to catch a fowl ball
I agree that the boats should keep a respectable distance but "follow they should/could".

Yeah, the gallery helps the golfer when they get plunked it doesn't go out of play...

If I was on Toledo Bend right now, I'd be fishing, not spectating.

Mueller looks like he has caught 3 about 6lbs each. On live feed he has 3 for about 17-18lbs from what I saw

Great to see both deep and shallow stuff working well. Most thought it would be won deep hands down but Lane and a couple of others are keeping it close fishing shallow.

I believe that's the standard daily time it stops, not just today.

Thank you Sir, i wasn't sure.

Re: Elites on Toledo Bend - 05/15/16 06:38 PM

I'm guessing they do that so that some uncertainty is reinserted into the game prior to the weigh-in. If the unofficial results were for the entire day, the weigh-in would be rather lame in excitement.

If you will notice those 12 guys are spread out all over the lake. Latta was telling you guys a few months ago to avoid the high pressure Fin and Feather areas and find new water. He was right, there are fish all over the lake. From one end to the other and from one side to the other.
