What rod do you like best for throwing square bill crank baits?
I use an older model Shimano TC-4, 7ft in length. I was just wondering what everyone else likes best.

7'6" Veritas 2.0 winch series Cranking rod.

Falcon original series medium-heavy. It's heavy enough to feel the hard knocks of hitting brush and pull it free. And soft enough to tell the difference from hitting brush and having a fish on. Its just a different feel which over time I have learned much in the same way I get a certain vibration from a Carolina Rig as opposed to the feel of a T-Rig bait. IMO the key to it is consistency and like time on water with the rig...

I use a 6'10" Powell Inferno Composite. Like the shorter rods for accuracy.

Denali N2 Series cranking rod.
704 Dobyns champion cranking rod or a 705 champion cranking rod.

For all my small and medium diving CBs, I use the Dobyn's Champion 764 CB RM. It handles all those CBs really well. Graphite, but with a good limber tip and enough backbone to get the job done on big fish. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I use a Tatula 7'1" medium heavy regular taper. Great distance and not too much tip.

I'm with this guy, the Dobyns crank bait rods are hands down the best imo.

Powell 705 Endurance is what I use but they don't make that anymore. I'd get a 705 Max 3D. Reasonably priced, light weight, good action, and lots of power.

This...but I use the 7'10". More universal for chunking the big cranks later on as well.

Even though I'm a G.Loomis fan, I prefer a Powell 725 Endurance for square bills, I throw the smaller SB on G.Loomis JWR 802

I use my 20 year old 6' Garcia Gold Max IM-6.
Works great for 1.0, 1.5 and similar smaller H20 Xpress square bills.
If I went with bigger baits I would move up to 7' rod
but I don't think you have to go out and buy a special rod just for fishing square bill crank baits.

For me, a sb is a target bait, so I use a rod that gives me the most accuracy--whatever that rod is.

My favorite rod for squarebills is the oldest rod I own. Its an OLD 6"6' medium Berkeley lightning rod. Its my favorite rod for spinnerbaits and swimjigs too. It has just the right amount of tip to do a roll cast and have my lure land Exactly where I want it to. Great for close quarters around cover
