It's open. Water level is a little higher than normal. Overall the lake is in good shape. Clearer on the lower end.

Around Lynn creek marina the water was stained but not murky, if you stay away from the feeder creeks the water is fine, and the fishing was great for me...I was out on wednesday

I'll be out there tomorrow. The water looks really bad towards Lloyd Park and right at the bridge. Looks much better the further you go towards the dam.

Between my partner and I, we caught about 35 bass today. Two just over 14 inches, the rest under 14. Nothing even close to an over... not sure where the big ones are.

Re: Joe Pool - 04/24/16 01:18 AM

I didn't catch my 10 lb bass. But, I did catch three overs. They ranged from 5 1/2 to 7 pounds. Caught a bunch of big slots. Avg 3-4 pounds. Caught ONLY two unders.

Caught them all on some custom made jigs from Cooper Custom Rods. The bass were caught along a 200 yard stretch of bank where there was green leaves trees in 3-5ft of water. All bass were caught along the edge of the shade line.

Edit.....my two "dinks" were caught on a Megabass Vision X lipless. Both at the boat ramp with in 2 minutes of launching the boat. It's habit. I ALWAYS fish the boat ramp before I start the motor.

I was out there till about noon. I caught quite a few slots with the biggest being about 4lbs. I fished 10-15ft and all of them came on a Carolina Rig, 5XD, and drop shot. When the sun really got up I caught a few nice ones in the flooded stuff on a power worm in 3ft.

I did manage to save a crappie on my trip. Had a nice shad stuffed in his face.

Re: Joe Pool - 04/24/16 11:22 AM

My wife and I fished for a couple of hours yesterday (Sat) afternoon. We had a couple bites but only landed on sand bass. I guess we were just not in the right spot. Plenty of pleasure boats, I remember now why I only fish the early mornings on Joe Pool.

Re: Joe Pool - 04/24/16 11:05 PM

was out there from 0700-1300. man did it get windy. i too must have been in the wrong spot- only managed 6. 1 to 1.5#s. it was tricky putting in at lynn creek. but boy was there a lot of bank fisherman this morning! they were lined up on the bank.

Re: Joe Pool - 04/24/16 11:18 PM

I got out there at 6:45, realized I left the boat keys at home. Went home and got back to the lake around 8:30. 5 minutes later lost a 4.5 right at the boat. Didnt get another bite until around 11:30. Maybe the change in wind made it tougher, I wasn't able to stay on my first spot for more than 20 minutes before I had to move.

Caught Sandbass all over the lake today. Couldn't get away from them.
