Bass boat hull coating...??? What do they use? - 04/12/16 07:52 PM

I am going to line a section of my hull down the middle as it is starting to get dinged up..(Fork)
What brand should I use? Is it just regular bedliner coating?

Thanks buddy.. Anyone else have a clue? I am sure it is just bedliner but didn't know if there was a specific product or products for fiberglass or marine applications.

Talk to Mike at Lake Fork Fiberglass if you have questions, the talk to Toledo Fiberglass,Mike put my gator hull on my 206, I love it, had it close to 5 yrs no problems at all. Personally either one would be great, since LFF was closer to me that's who I went with. Also some people say there is some loss of performance, some don't, I may have lost 1-2 mph and the boat is a little bit more sluggish, not much, but it is there. But then again a 206 Champion is a Caddy not a Vette, I can still run 66-67 though fast enough for this old fart

Hope this helps

Look up (Al's liner) Its a do it your self professional quality liner spray. We have sprayed several things, The jeep ect. Easy to use. Get the mold release spray. I do not know about being in the water for a long time. Might call and ask them. Works great....

Any of the bed liner materials will work, the key is letting them fully cure before introducing ANY water. There is also a fine line when layering, you must let the first coat firm up a little before adding another layer and repeat. If it drys to much the layers wont properly bond together. Also make sure you neatly sand or grind the edges down once completely cured so there are no "flaps" for the water to grab. I used to run a "spray rig" where we were using poly urethane to cover cooler walls and over the curbs in food service plants, as long as you get the thickness right and allow it to properly cure its tough as nails and not phased by water.

Love my GatorHull from Mike at Lake Fork Fiberglass! Give him a call before putting on a spray on liner material. He will repair the bottom then add extra layers of fiberglass that actually become part of your boat. Not sure about his exact process but it is tough stuff! And guaranteed for life of boat. Mine has already prevented an insurance claim, trolled over underwater t-post and not even a scratch.
