Bassmaster Coverage of Winyah Bay Elite Series - 04/11/16 01:35 PM

Hats off to BASS for their live coverage of this event last weekend. Live feed for the weigh-ins was spotty while I was in the car, but I was able to watch the live, on the water feed on line at home all day both Saturday and Sunday. Very cool to spend a couple days in the boats of the leaders through media.

Agree! The live on water coverage is great. A bit less of Zona and Mercer clowning and yakking would be an improvement.

They're commentators. That's their job.

Yes to the live feed and it was great as said and enjoyed every bit of it except Zona playing his stupid acting and changing his voice and games. Don't know how Sanders can put up with his stupid clowning around and really surprised bass let's him get by with it, but when your friends with Jerry I guess you can get by with it.

I think BASS is doing a great job on the live coverage .

Before Dave Mercer, no one liked Keith "Dirty Elvis" Alan. before IKeith, no one liked Fish. No one likes Chris Bowes on the Opens side. No one likes Zona because he's a nut who tries to keep things interesting, even if you don't like his sense of humor. Zona's friends with McKinnis? Really?

Or maybe he helps gets them great ratings. Zona is really good at what he does. He also helps fill a lot of dead time. I love the fact that fishing is fun for him and not some uber boring super serious pursuit all the time.

I for one love it.. it is like listening to talk radio. I can have it up on my desktop at work and listening... even though I may not be actively watching. This commentary and goofing around is completely hilarious, especially with the masters music they would queue up and pictures.

Some people, never happy....pretty sure that Zona isn't employed because of who his acquaintances are...maybe I'm wrong, but he probably would have been released, or at least relocated within the structure of the organization, if he was not fulfilling his role/niche on a fairly successful program.

I like Zona. It's fishing guys. It's not really that serious... And my wife LOVES Zona. I'm sure B.A.S.S. loves that too.

I think BASS will be doing this at all events where they have internet coverage.

I also think the live coverage is great! I really feel like it gives you the real, on the water, experience. There's no editing, so what you see is what you get. I like that.

My thoughts too. I watch it on my phone when I can. Only problem is my wife changed our data plan from unlimited to save a little and the stream eats data.

I enjoy the live feed also but there is another point of view especially if you are trying to make a living at the pro level. , http://bassblaster.bassgold.com/too-much-info

BASS Live is great. Zona does what he can to entertain and educate when the catching is slow. Some of his comments are ridiculous but I am not aware of anyone that could do better in that role. He clearly makes an effort to make the show better. It is also nice to have someone like Zona involved that actually knows competitive bass fishing. However his relationships with some of the anglers has the potential to bias his commentary on BASS Live. Overall maybe it does not matter because there isn't any real (unbiased & independent) media coverage in professional bass fishing for either circuit.

When I first started watching years back, Zona got on my last nerve. Now I really like the guy. Figured out what the above stated, that he is trying to make fishing "fun". I now really like his sense-of-humor smile
