Small Bass on Fork - 04/09/16 11:51 PM

First post on TFF
Last year there were many 10"-12" bass caught on Fork in late spring and summer. What was the age of those 10"-12" fish? From what year spawn did they originate?

They were from last year's spawn. They get that size in six months to a year.

If you were catching 12" fish in the spring, they were at least a year old. Last fall we caught hundreds of 6" fish, which were probably 6 months old.

wait until this summer, we'll be catching last years spawn now around 14"-16" and thousands of babies from this year.
The amount of fry that should survive this spring with the increased cover and the brown water should really make for great fishing in the near future.
