March 2016 Update:


Below is the data for pumping, water releases and evaporation for March 2016.


Evaporation for March = 5.84 inches or about 13,140 acre-feet.



Rainfall Recorded for March at the SRA = 8.10 inches.


Water Released Downstream for Communities by the SRA for March = 251.6 acre-feet or 0.11 inches off the lake.


Water Pumped by Dallas for March = 5,864 acre-feet Or 1,910,792,609.6 gallons. This equals about 2.61 inches taken off the lake by pumping.


Water Released by the SRA through the Flood Gates when the Lake was Overfull from Rain for March = 90,698.2 acre-feet or 29,554,135,447.5 gallons. This is the equivalent of taking 3.28 feet or 39.4 inches off the surface of Lake Fork when it is full and dumping it downstream.


So, the total water removed from the lake in March was about 47.96 inches.


2016 Totals through March:


Evaporation for 2016 = 11.46 inches or about 26,444 acre-feet.


Rainfall Recorded by the SRA for 2016 = 11.65 inches.


Water Released Downstream for Local Communities by the SRA for 2016 = 470.4 acre-feet or 153,280,498.6 gallons. This totals about 0.20 inches off the lake for 2016.


Water Pumped by Dallas for 2016 = 15,785.9 acre-feet or 51,143,857,615.3 gallons. This equals about 6.84 inches off the surface of the lake. This equals about 12% of the 131,000 acre-feet that Dallas is entitled to pump from Lake Fork for the year.


Water Released Downstream by the SRA through the Flood Gates when the Lake was Overfull in 2016 = 129,596.2 acre-feet or 42,229,103,204.7 gallons. This is the equivalent of 4.68 feet of water being taken off the surface of the lake.


So, the total amount of water removed from Lake Fork so far in 2016 is about 172,296.5 acre-feet or about 6.22 feet. 75% of that water was released through the flood gates to prevent the lake from getting too high on the gates.
