Classic boats?

Classic boats? - 03/20/16 02:12 AM

Does anyone have an older boat they'd like to share some pictures of?Particularly 70's-90's. I've tried finding some old threads but when I click on them photobucket doesn't work. I know of two 79 Cobras that were restored and posted on here and also just a thread of classic boats. Thanks!

The boat is almost as impressive as the shop, since you guys don't know he built the shop by himself and the man cave is most impressive thing in there.

I wish somebody had a few pics of some Laser boats to post. They were a long time customer of mine.

It's amazing how many old Champions you still see on the water, and in good shape too. Those boats have withstood the test of time far better than most.

You want classic? I've got classic! A 1956 Arkansas Traveler 14' Mod-V with a 1957 Evinrude Sportwin 10hp. It's not the fastest boat, or the sexiest on the ramp, but it's my first boat and I rebuilt it from the ground up. Also, the boat used to belong to my wife's great grandfather, I pulled it out from behind a garage where it sat for 32 years. I named the boat Norma Jean after my wife's grandmother (it was her dad's boat). I posted an entire thread of my build at Tinboats.net. I can post the link if anyone is interested.

This is the boat today

Norma Jean standing with "Norma Jean" she cried when she first saw it (it was a surprise for her)

Getting it home

Where I found it

My dads first boat was exactly like that and I grew up learning how to fish in that boat. We had a 15hp Evinrude on the back and it would really get up and go. Brings back a lot of memories.

Took the picture below a couple of years ago on Palestine. The fellow had just caught this one another about the same size on a Pop R.

I was told last week that he quit making them. I have a friend who makes something very similar and a little better built. If you want one his steps message me and I'll get you his information.
