Question for owners of older boats

Have you experienced the fading of the names of the switches on your dash panel? Other than relying on memory have you relabeled them somehow? I'm thinking of a paint pen and some nice script... Anyone have any other ideas? A Brother label maker works for my Plano boxes bit I don't think I'd like it on my dash panel

I've found it doesn't matter, none of the gauges work anyway except the trim. Oh yeah the speedometer does go up to 20 when I'm runnin about 50

I buy new switches from Ranger. I can redo all the switches on the boat for ~ $100.

I really wish some aftermarket entrepreneur would stock and sell just the caps...

On my 1987 Nitro (pre-BPS model), I have no speedometer,no trim gauge,intermittent fuel gauge and working tach.
Most of the labels are long gone.
But it still catches fish and no payments for a long time.

I like the custom panel site. That would work also.

In my case my switches are rotary type and the label is on the panel, not the switch.

I don't read them anyway. Only have 3 switches. Lights, live well and bilge pump.

I had the same problem on my last boat. The panels were cracking, sun faded and couldn't read anything. I replaced the panels. I used large plastic cutting boards for the material, painted and clear coated them. Easy to cut them out with a jig saw and use hole saw for the gauges or switches. Just trace the old one onto the new material and cut it out. The material also sands fairly easily and should outlast the boat. I bought a label maker at wal mart and used that to label them. Then applied clear coat epoxy over the labels. Hope this helps!
