Are there any mats on Lake Fork right now? - 02/12/16 04:56 PM
Hey TFF,
I have an annual trip to Lake Fork this Wednesday the 17th. Ive been reading theres some good vegetation this year. Wondering if theres any mats to punch, because my buddys boat is smaller, Ive got too many rods, and I don't want to bring my punch rig if I cant use it. Thanks for any input!

I'd be interested to know what the grass is looking like this year as well!

The mats of Hyacinth didn't seem too bad last week... There is some good submerged grass coming in, but not too thick to fish with most techniques yet.

Thank you Mr Burton, I think I will leave it home then. Cant wait, last year we fished hard for 10hrs, had a 5 pounder 1st thing in the morning, and another about 3 in the afternoon. Only fish all day, but that 10hrs flew by and we had a blast. Thanks again! BTW - Thanks to all the guides and others that post fishing reports on here I sure enjoy them!

A few mats in the backs of coves. It seems the grass is in the beginning stages of coming back. Lots of new milfoil!

A buddy of mine named Matt will be out there next week.
Plenty of matts all over the lake, and the grass both hydrilla and milfoil are coming in nicely.
Good luck

Thank you guys, I appreciate it! Mr Watson on second thought, I think I will cram the punch rig in there, make my bud take 1 less rod haha. Gonna throw the kitchen sink at em, and I love punching
Your welcome, one thing to remember about mats this time of year, they contain a lot of heat. Think about that, Florida bass love warmth.
Good luck
