Motorguide xi5 pinpoint

Thinking about getting one. Looking for feedback on how well they work. Wireless foot pedal pros and cons. Pinpoint gps. Best place to purchase for the money? Thanks

Have boats at two different locations. One has a foot control MG 36V Tour Edition on a 21' glass boat and the other is a 17.5' Bass Tracker with the MG xI5. Got the xI5 in Sept. of 2014 soon after they came out. Having fished with a hand controlled for many years, getting used to the xI5 was pretty easy using it that way with the foot pedal just getting an occasional tap to adjust the direction every now and then. I like standing with both feet on the deck instead of one on the pedal and one on the floor.

The wireless, fairly flat foot pedal works great, just a little too sensitive and fast turning which frequently causes oversteer. Overall, that's my biggest complaint. Generally, its quiet and the spot lock function is like a deep water Powerpole or Talon. Also like the Heading function which lets you point the boat a direction such as paralleling a shoreline or weedline, set the speed to low and it takes the boat along that course regardless of wind or current. Catch a fish, hit the Anchor button and it will keep you right there indefinitely while you do other things. I put the handheld remote on a wader belt because I don't like things hanging from a neck lanyard. It's handy when you use the Anchor function but just want to move the anchor spot 5 or 10 feet at a time-click the direction indicator button once for every 5 feet you want to move the boat. It has made fishing out of the aluminum much easier on windy days.

Now if they made a Tour Edition with Anchor and Heading function it would be the ultimate trolling motor and I would put one on the bigger boat for sure.

had mine since this summer, love it. I bought it to make myself fish deeper.
