Graph mount ideas

I figured between all of y'all gentlemen, there would be a good idea or two. Hahahaha. I'm looking at moving my 1199 to the center, so I can use an hds12 on the side. Boat is an 04 cougar. So far, I have thought about bolting a piece of aluminum agile to the top to bolt the bracket to. Any other ideas?

I had to make a metal plate for mine......but a Triton dash is much different than a BC.

The moment-arm of the factory gimbal bracket at 90 degrees is far too much stress for the fiberglass to survive holding a bracket under the G-loads of banging waves (even 1' chop). This fact is why after-market solutions build something that allows the gimbal to sit near vertical, supporting the weight/shock from below.

Unless you want to risk cracking the dash or busting out holes where bolts had been, you probably need to rotate that gimbal to vertical and look for ideas to create a "shelf" for the gimbal to sit on. The way you have it, that's going to be a lot of stress with that graph held out that far from the dash.

Actually, it's Bass Boat Technologies. That isn't going to help him, James. BBT doesn't have dash plates for boats like his as there IS no dash plate to replace on an 04 Bass Cat. Did you look at his photos? He has a formed fiberglass dash. Custom/hack is the only way he'll get there...

Where he's trying to position the display seems rather high above the steering wheel too. I wonder if he can see over it? ....I wouldn't want one that high, too much liability if there is ever a collision.

No one builds anything for this console. It will be custom no matter what I do. Yes I can see over it. I'm 6'6" and the graph is below the nose of the boat in my line of sight. I wish there was a little more flat spots on this console.

I made a bracket to hold a 998 on a blazer exactly how you show in the pic. It had four bolts through top of the console and the bracket was near horizontal and it held up really well. The foot print could be spread out a little more and it would never rip out of the console even with the bigger graph.

My current setup is an aluminum bracket that spans the console attached with two bolts on each side and a shelf spanning the console which allows the bracket to be mounted lower and verticle.
I like my current one better but either way will work.

I could make you one or if you know someone who can weld aluminum it's pretty simple to do. Looks good and works great

Appreciate the offer. Looking forward to seeing the pictures. I'm sure ill come up with something. If I went the horizontal route, I will probably add 2 gas piston shocks for vibration support.

No sir, I have not. The most popular option is Sherm's mount, but It interferes with my hds12 on the Ram already installed.

I never realized how dirty my boat is until I try to take a pic of it.
This bracket has been on here for years and beat to [censored]. I was mistaking and this one has only one big screw on each side. The shelf sits on a flat spot across the dash panel along the back edge which helps support the verticle load. It's strong enough that if I was to grab the graph and try to tear it off, the bracket would twist to pieces before the shelf ever budged.

Shock absorbers would be big time overkill IMHO. Spread in the mounting screws with a design that gives support verticly and horizontaly can be made way stronger than it appears to be.

A custom fabrication of the same concept as shown by the pics from 1442 would be a viable option. Your "shelf bracket" would require bends and rises of multiple tabs to reach the flat spots where it could be anchored, but once done that way, it would be strong. Notice that his solution gets away from that horizontal moment arm issue when the gimbal is straight behind the display - so that you won't be stressing the attachment points.

I have thought about taking a piece of 1/4" plate and cutting it to contour the console horizontally. From there I'll weld on tabs to bolt to the flat spots. Only issue is my Tachometer will be hidden, which I might switch to the mph side. Keep the ideas rolling.

P.S. It'll be easier for me to fab or have a local shop fab then trying to work with a company.

If you keep bolting stuff on that kitty. The Yamaha is gonna need a stage three from hydro tec.

74 loaded with wells full is fast enough for me.

Did mine for about $80

I have an 04 cougar also and have a touch 12 mounted to where you have the Bass Cat cover plate on the right side of the console. I took a 7inch unit out of the dash so I had to make an outer plate to cover the hole. I also made an inner plate to bolt the two pieces together. Then I bolted a Ram mount to the outer plate and it holds the touch 12. You could then use another Ram mount on the side to mount your other unit.

With the Ram mount you can position them just how you need them.

That is an option. I thought about putting one there and the 12 on the ram. It'll be close to interfering with gear shift. I'll brain storm some more Monday.

Stainless plate and metallic spray paint to match.
