Lake Conroe

Hello, I am new to the forums. I have used the search option to try and find posts about lake conroe. I am just getting into bass fishing. I have a jon boat and live on the water in weir creek. So far I have been able to catch a few bass around the long bridge and bridge by stow away, slow rolling jigs on the bottom. Before the weather turned cold then hot then cold then hot I was able to reel in a few big ones trolling with my wife and kids on crank baits. I am looking for spots north of the long bridge that i could fish and land more than one or two for the couple of hours i am out fishing. If anyone has any tips, tricks, or information that could help me, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

I have a Shimano Curado 200hg with 30# braid line on a H20 Ethos Heavy action rod, 13 fishing concept A with 30# braid on a Duckett fishing medium-heavy action rod. I have been using jigs, rapala shad rap, any crank baits that resemble shad, Tried worms, texas rigged, jerk baits, rat-l-traps, and spinner baits. So far, the only bass i have caught have been on the shad rap, and jigs.

I assume the "long bridge" you're referring to is the 1097 bridge. West side of the lake there are a few spots some shallow some deep. I've caught em on everything and on some days I get skunked. I'm fairly new to this too and I'm still searching myself. I need to try the south end of the lake the next time I go out as I've mostly fished just the north end. Can't seem to go wrong around docks and structure - unless you're with me then you might get skunked.

So far, the best luck I've had has been almost entirely north of 1097. Try tossing a worm around the points along the national park shoreline. Any place with downed timber should be fished slow and unhurried.

Zoom makes the G-tail worm that I use with a 3-0 or 4-0 offset hook and 1/4 oz. weight. I reel it in slow around docks, drops and points. Butch Terpe, a great guide out of Stow-away Marina, taught me that.

During the cooler months I fish a 6-inch worm slowly in the same areas. I rarely fish deep but not because it doesn't work but because I don't know the deeper parts of Conroe yet. Drop-shotting seems to be effective for some.
