Trap colors?
I ordered a few different trap blanks to paint and was looking for feedback on patterns, I probably haven't thrown one more than a dozen times in the last few years, but need to start. I know Rayburn red and other red craw patterns are popular. What other patterns are good to throw? Probably be throwing on roberts mostly maybe Rayburn a little.

It's hard to beat chrome with a blue back, but I like a pattern that includes white on the sides.
I only throw red craw patterns and shad pattern some times a blue Gil. But mostly red craw and shad patterns

Red/orange craw pattern in the fall, winter, and early Spring.
Chrome w/ blue back or the Lake Fork pattern Rat-l-trap summer.
One is a 1/2 oz 2 3/4" Diawa td vibration, other is a jackal tn70 3" .9 oz
Thanks for all the ideas guys I'll have to try and paint a few of these

Chrome blue back with vertical black tiger stripes down the side
Black back fading into an orange stripe fading into a yellow side with vertical black tiger stripes.
All red with vertical black tiger stripes. Brown back, orange side with vertical black tiger stripes.
Grayish/blue back fading into a cream white or bone with a yellow stripe down the length of the bait.
My favorite is French pearl bluegill. From SKs red eye series. It's a good dark colored bait for this muddy water we've had this year.

Doing a actual chrome mirror finish with a airbrush is dang near impossible I have yet to figure out a way to do it. I have found some new mirror chrome paint that is made for airbrushing and need to get it in and test it out. I have a few other ways to do it but they are not durable enough to be viable options. I'm not comfortable selling someone a bait that the finish chips off after a few fish. Hopefully the new chrome paint I have in route will be the ticket. Other options would be to do a holographic foil and paint over, but personally on a trap I would prefer a chrome base to do most of the chrome patterns. Should have my traps and chrome airbrush paint this week and will be doing a couple to test out.
Then I'll have to figure out where I can go to throw them since ray bob is closed.
Make a tomato craw with a really bright belly. One one use a dark red with a bright belly. On the other use a bright red and use a bright belly.
Paint one also hot neon pink. And one a dark red with a bright red/orange belly
Also paint one with red eyes, they only eat the red eye ones in January on Rayburn...
Like the hot pink idea I have some paint that i ordered a while back and clicked the wrong box ended up with hot pink that is glow in the dark, I have yet to spray a bait with it.

Toledo gold, or a pearl white with some red gills.
Could someone post a pic of the Rayburn red that has been referenced so many times and the Toledo gold, I find several different options when I'm researching it.

Depends on the brand. Rayburn red is. Darkish red craw with black back. Toledo gold is dark red craw but with a gold orange belly.

Tennessee Shad is hard to beat.
This is the 2000s hay day Rayburn red (via my father). Given that I was between the ages of 6-14. During the trap years. I don't remeber much. I do remember a 9.9 I caught somewhere before 2006. Yet to figure out how I landed her on a trap. Bone color because the chrome was knocked off.
Mr Y'barbo said something about pink so I did a little playing around
Florescent glow in the dark pink with magenta pearl coat still got to shad dot and clear. Interesting bait to say the least

Funny you pretty much summed up the "trap" bite. They bite the bait not the color or brand. Yes there are times when color plays a role but typically its the spot and presentation. I know some guys that only throw rattletraps but others only newer brands which are significantly different both in sound and shape.

Sure how many would you like?

Shhhh that's bad business for bait companies. I have a bunch of different scenarios but the go toos I keep 5 on board. 3 with good hooks. Water and wind has more to do with the baits. But you as well as I know, Rayburn trap fishing is nothing like anywhere else. There's 4 main locals on this board daily. Dallas fishermen have no idea.
P.s. I've ruined many a baits try to replicate one. I'll find a couple cases at a store and shake them all to only buy one or two.
Kinda off the topic but has anyone tried the new boo yah trap they make both colors and looks like a 1 knocker, I thought about ordering a few of them to try out plus I would have a few to compare colors to.

If u wanted some colors that are unique that'd I'd buy. They'd be brown eye, the old one. Ghost. And a bone.

Brown eye will be one I'm doing for sure, I already have that in the plans to paint later in the week, it's really close to the summer Shad I do. I will also be doing a bone aswell that is one of my favorite patterns and is often overlooked.
What type of ghost are you referring too? I'm open to all feedback on traps not something I normally paint or throw so anything is a positive for me.
On the bone do you prefer a blk eye and blk shading around the eye or just straight bone.

Google ghost minnow lucky craft. I'd take a bone pattern w a black eye. Maybe even a black shad "dot"

Red shad is another original color that was popular during the trap years.
Cool I'll check that it aswell, thanks for the info should have my trap bodies tomorrow. I'm excited to throw down some new patterns

Lol thanks Ron, I'm going to do a version of the wild shiner, if my baits show up today. Not sure it is the true brown eye or not but it's the one I like.

I throw one trap 99 percent of the time and I would bet money most of y'all don't even own it. It is s stock trap color but hard to find. I have a tackle shop in Nacogdoches keep it in stock for me. He also had Norman custom paint some dd22 and dlns in the same color for me probably 10 years ago. Within a month of him getting them there had been 2 fish over 10 lbs caught on them.
