2016 fishing resolution. - 12/23/15 02:24 PM

What are some techniques you may want to get better at for the year 2016, Make you a list. Heres mine!

Get better at "video game fishing"
Just bought my first A-rig a couple days ago
Deep cranking
Shaky head ( may be a surprise, But I have never caught a fish on a shaky head)
Catch a gaint on a Big Huddleston swim bait

Last year mine was try to be a better jig fisherman and I ended up catching well over 50% of my bass this year on a jig including my PB of 8LBS 4oz. now a jig is my confidence bite!!

I want to become a better offshore, structure fisherman. I have been out with a couple of guides the last couple of months and has really helped boost my confidence. It seems my biggest problem on my own is boat control and positioning.

I want to help a lot of anglers love the sport more & build their confidence to catch more fish.

Also I'd like to keep my DD streak alive. It's 5 years in a row hoping to make it 6.

Those hurt! Lol
Here are the lakes they came from:

Squaw Creek
Ivie
Ray Roberts
Hubbard Creek
Comanche(private)

Not your typical big bass lakes. I think you have better odds of a 10lber in south/west Texas than out east.

Nice streak! That is a cool set of lakes to do it. Now you gotta catch this next one at a different place than those five to keep it up!

Re: 2016 fishing resolution. - 12/23/15 06:56 PM

My goal is to catch at least one dd on public water in 2016. Also, my goal is always to catch the biggest fish possible every time I go no matter where I go.
It's good for me to start over like nothing before mattered or happened- otherwise I get lazy!

Andrew Grills on Lake Fork and also learned a lot from Darold Gleason on Toledo. Can't go wrong with either one.

Re: 2016 fishing resolution. - 12/23/15 11:21 PM

I am just going fishing. Not gonna plan out every second of it or force myself to fish any certain way. Just gonna throw what I think I need to be throwing, try to catch what bites and try to have fun in the process. No overplanning, no proclamations, no expectations except to do what I have to do to get the next bite.

Only lake I'm surprised on this list is Squaw... James your absolutely right, I lived in San Angelo for 3 years. And imo you are WAY more likely to catch a 10 there than east of dfw.

Heck when its a big bass tourney on Nasworthy its takes a 9+ to win it...
Oak creek has big fish
Hordes has big fish
When Hubbard creek has water it has quite a few BIG fish
Ivie has LOTS of big fish...

My 2015 resolution was to fish no more than 12lb test, and then spent all spring throwing at newly submerged brush/grass with 65lb braid. I have to try my 2015 resolution again before I move on to a new resolution.

Have more gratitude towards the opportunity of going fishing with the understanding that it is not a right but a privilege. May I always remember the price of freedom every time I launch my boat... sometimes I take fishing for granted.
