The fish turned off Saturday at 7:30am....... I caught several 5s & 4s between 6am & 7:30am.
there were over 150 boats on the lake, most people I talked to experienced the same thing.
I went back out Sunday morning,,,, no boats (3) but no biting fish either. Fished until 10am and went home to watch football.
have not been back out.

It has DEFINITELY slowed down

The only way we're able to get a consistent bite going a couple weeks ago was slow rolling a spinnerbait through the dead pads. It was cloudy and windy though.

When I last fished Athens about 2 weeks ago, the bite had slowed a bit but they're still biting just not like they were a month ago. You fish the right areas and you can catch good fish all day. Slow down once you find'em and slowly dissect the entire area, especially if there's any baitfish in the area. Weightless senko fished wacky style worked well for me. Fish the creeks.

OKay,,,,,
I live on Athens and fish it all the time.
Even the best bass lakes turn off every now and then.
Right now Athens is off.
If "anyone" thinks they can go to Athens on ANY day and catch a bunch of fish I want to fish with them.
It is a great bass lake, but sometimes they just won't bite.
It has been like that since 7:30am last Saturday morning.

Living on a lake is not equal to knowing the lake. There are always fish to be caught.

Ricky Brooks, a local stick, has been on quality fish for the last 2 weeks. Pounding the brushpiles w/ deep divers.

If you know anything about Athens, you know that Nutman knows it VERY well.

Caught some last Thursday throwing chrome rattletraps in the middle of a cove .. All you have to do is find the baitfish. Sounds simple until you get out there eeks

I fished a small tournament there on Saturday. The wind was unbearable but at least the rain didn't come as predicted. I caught 9 with only 2 slots but could only fish very protected parts of the lake. Sure wish I could have been there yesterday when the wind wasn't up.
