Lavon

Lavon - 11/02/15 02:04 AM

I heard there used to be a regular working man's tourney out on Lavon. Just curious if anyone knows what happened to that?

The reason I ask is because a few of us are trying to get a jackpot tourney together out there on the 14th, and I'm curious how many of you used to fish those tourneys. I'm also curious how many people would be interested in participating if we started a working man's tourney back up this next year. I'm always surprised there aren't more open tournaments out there. If any of you have experience on Lavon, fishing those tourneys, or just want to chime in please do.

They man who ran it retired from putting them on. I will let him tell you why if he's on here. And yes I'm sure there is quite a few who would do it. I would be in on Thursday night

Tracker Tim is correct. CABA was allowed to pay the $50.00 special use permit per event, weekly, I assume because we had done Thursday night events for many years. Not sure they will allow that again. If not, it will require a fairly large up front payment to cover the season. You must also have a special use permit on file stating start and end dates as well as start and end times of each event, etc.

Having weekly events on Lavon, volatile due to extreme lake water fluctuations. And now that East Fork & Avalon Park ramps are no longer available, the best ramp I.M.O., for tournament use is Lavonia South. Which is a good ramp but does not have restroom facility.

I really miss doing CABA tournaments and seeing the great group of anglers that participated! Please PM me if you have questions. Keep us updated if they get going, I would like to participate as well. Best of luck!

My understand is they were damaged by the high water from a month or so back

Mike, Thanks. I just sent you a PM.

Everyone else,
Mark your calendar for that jackpot tourney for next Saturday, the 14th. Feel free to shoot me a PM if you have questions. That fall bite should be in full swing once the lake stabilizes after all this rain. Further details in the "Tournament" forum section.

Make sure you have your permit. They WILL come and check you. Back in the early days of the RHBC, our then President took a ride with the Warden when we didn't have one. smile

The ramps are okay from what I understand. The actual roads leading to the ramps are full of pot holes and cracked asphalt.
